Conclusions and recommendations of the round table: "What to build on the Una after the war"

"THE UNA RIVER WITH A FUNCTION TO ELEVATE THE QUALITY OF LIVING"

There has been organized the round table with a theme "What to build on the Una river after the war?". It has been organized in Bihac on May 17th, 1996. in honour of the Una river day on May 17th, 1996. by "The Una emeralds" society, the society of sports fishermen "Una" and the Bihac radiostation. The participants of the round table, 38 of them from all the economy, society and administration structures have agreed (on the basis of three introductory theses and numerous discussions) upon the following conclusions and recommendations:

1. The river Una is the biggest and most valuable economy potential in the Una-Sana canton. She has to have the function of elevating the quality of life and future of the people in that area.

2.The conclusions and recommendations of the scientific meeting with the theme "The valorisation of the natural and social values of the river Una aquatorium 1991.", as well as the new scientific achievements to this concern, are the cause and the reason for making a study of protection and economical exploitation of the Una river. The study should be done as soon as possible and it should be presential in the course of the afterwar renewal of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Extracts from the study should be printed as soon as possible in a special representative, edition in english, german, french, italian and arab.

3. Global orientation of the protection and economical exploitation of the Una river, which will be based on scientific knowledge and grounds, should be plebiscitary approved by the citizens of the Una-Sana canton. Until this happens, no capital economy plants (such as powerplants, objects which technology would endanger the ecosystem of the aquatorium, etc.) should be built on the river Una and her near surroundings, which does not apply on the capacities in the function of tourism, ecology, sportive fishing and other sports.

4. The example of the appropriate approach to the exploitation of the river Una is the idea of "The Una emeralds" society to build the ecological centre of the children of the world "Eko-Una" on the river, as well as a part of the 1996-2000 programme of the sports fishermen "Una" society from Bihac.

5. Creating the conditions to enter the parts of the river Una into the United Nations register of the world's heritage by the cooperation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia.

6. Regulating the protection and usage of the name "Una" through adequate normative activities.

7. It would be preferable to announce the Una-Sana area as the ecological canton of children, which should be stated in the Una-Sana canton assembly plaquette, having in mind that a lot of children are being born in this area, which is good, and that his majesty a child is being loved, and that the children of "The Una esmeralds", because of their original ecological creativity, have been named the heralds of ecological civilisation in the world.
